Hello to all, my name is Lee Wallace and I am extremely excited to announce that I will appear on the upcoming election ballot for the LPISD Board of Trustees—Position 5. It is with a great sense of humility and appreciation that I seek your support on the May 9 election.

I have lived in the city of La Porte for the past decade and I work for a local La Porte business.  My wife, Grisel, is in her 21st year as a teacher/administrator and has proudly spent the past 11 years passionately educating the children of La Porte ISD.  Our son, Nick, is a student at La Porte High School and will graduate this spring.

As you can probably imagine (being married to an educator), education is frequently a topic at our family dinner table. Coupled with my desire to contribute to our community, I feel there is no better way to accomplish this than by representing you and your children as a School Board Trustee. Unfortunately, the city of La Porte has certainly seen its share of difficulties in the past year and I want to assure our citizens that their tax dollars are being spent in the most fiscally responsible manner. Moreover, I want to make sure that each and every community members’ concerns and ideas are heard. There is a short paragraph on the LPISD website “Welcome Page” that states, “Our school board epitomizes representatives and participatory government – citizens elected from the community making decisions about educational programs based upon community needs, values and expectations. Not only does the school board reflect the public desires, it translates the needs of students into policies, plans and goals that will be supported by the community”. I take these statements very seriously and will strive to adhere to its meaning completely.

As an educator’s husband, and friend to career educators, I can bring a different perspective to the decision making level of our district. As a parent, I certainly understand the importance of responsible spending, quality teaching, and the necessity in maintaining safe schools. You can count on me to respond to all of your suggestions with an open mind and a steadfast determination to make decisions that will promote a superior education for the children of LPISD.

"Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success."
